Food Committee Full Steam Ahead

Student Rep members were asked to take an informal poll to see what percentage of students would be staying on campus during the Reading Week period and how many students planned on having guests.

The results were very consistant through the houses. Most students plan on getting in on the Olympic action for at least part of the break and a few residents are planning on having visitors stay with them. Food Services anticipates about 85% of residents will be here over the break, with that in mind we have planned some extraordinary special meals for this period!!!

You asked for it: Coconut on the Fruit/Salad Bar
Sandwich specials that last all day.
Healthy Pasta with a less healthy sauce. (Alfredo on W.W., who knew!!)
Brunch Scramblers (coming soon Feb. 13 looks good!)
Tortillas at the salad bar. Doable but don't wrap it up before you hit the cash!

This afternoons Breaded Hake special sold out in no time. We'll have it on the menu again very soon. Look for it mmm good!.

Tonight (Feb 4) is our famous Apple Dumpling Bar. Don't forget the delicious caramel sauce.

Feb. 8 Strawberry Shortcake Bar - Strawberries are always in season somewhere and although this may not fit into the 100 mile diet. Close your eyes and think of summer with every bite!

Feb. 9 Another new fish joins our menu. Basa will be featured on this day. Stay tuned.

Feb. 10 In honour of the Lunar Festivities being showcased in the commons block we will feature a China on the Ginger Pot that night.

Feb. 15 Vanier Dining Room will pull out all the stops for a Chinese New Years Feast.

Feb. 16 Super special deal in the dining room, Bacon wrapped Beef Tenderloin. You won't find better in fine dining restaurants downtown and you'll certainly never get it for our price.

Feb. 22 'Laissez les bon temps rouler' Mardi Gras comes to the dining room. Get you fix of Cajun specials.

Feb. 24 Repeat of the Bacon wrapped tenderloin. Just in case you missed it the first time.

More events are scheduled for March but put the March 27th on your calendar for the Spring Formal.

Next food committee meeting is scheduled for Mar. 4

Question, requests, favorites let us know.

Action from Vanier Food Committee

Just so you know that your food committee is working for you:
It was suggested that:
Fresh Mangos would be a nice option. They are arriving Jan. 21 and will be on sale Jan. 22.
Smoked Tofu should be available everyday on the Sandwich bar. Done!
Broccoli and Cauliflower at the salad bar was too big. They are now being trimmed to a manageable size.
Frequency of Whole Grain Pasta be increased. Chef Steve says No Problem!
Yam Fries would be a nice option. Look for them on Stonehearth next week. Two nights!

Your food committee members are: Audrey Yen from KU, Gordon Ly from KU, Fatejeh Mayanloo from Ross, Raffi Reitzik from Tweeds, Robyn Turner from Tech and Xena Hinson from Maudsley. We are still looking for two more student representatives.
Stop by the Food Services Office in the Dining Room if you are interested.
